"Valkyriа" and the conference "Facade insulation systems with the use of polystyrene foam: energy efficiency, environmental friendliness, cost-effectiveness in construction"

The conference "Facade insulation systems with the use of foamed polystyrene: energy efficiency, environmental friendliness, cost-effectiveness in construction" was successfully held on April 12. Traditionally, the organizers were the Association "Manufacturers of exterior facade thermal insulation systems" and "Manufacturers of foam plastic. Forum participants were representatives of LLC "Valkyriа", experts in the field of energy conservation, as well as scientists, managers of companies, as well as journalists, government representatives, etc.

According to the report of Roman Zakharenkov (President of the Association of foam manufacturers) in 2012, the market for EPS amounted to 35 thousand tons, of which 35%, i.e. 12,250 tons. - Material with a density of more than 15 kg./m.cu. It is used in construction. According to Roman's estimations the growth in 2013 will be 40-45 thousand tons.

A.A. Necheporchuk (a member of the Attestation Architectural and Construction Commission of the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine) spoke about the state provision of energy efficiency of buildings and facilities in connection with the fact that since 2011 Ukraine is a member of the European Energy Community. According to the European standards for heating consumption should be 40-70 KWh per square meter per year. In Ukraine, these figures are 4-6 times higher. Therefore the priorities in the energy national strategy of Ukraine until 2030 were changed from economy to "full satisfaction of energy needs". Also in the speech there was talked about the new standards for energy efficiency requirements for new buildings that are under construction. Thus since 1.07.2013 there have been changes in the DBN B.2.6-31:2006 "Thermal insulation of buildings," according to which the standard coefficient of resistance of the thermal wall construction is increased to 3.3 sq.m.-°C/W for the first zone, which territory will now occupy most of Ukraine. In the south of the country, the coefficient will be 2.8 sq.m.-°C/W.

Then the word was given to V. Odrinskaya (current member of the Academy of Construction of Ukraine, honored worker of the industry of Ukraine, Head of the Technical Committee "Translucent constructions"). She informed about the new standardization of polystyrene foam, which consists of the adopted classification requirements and standards DSTU B EN 13163 and DSTU B EN 13164. "The introduction of standards on the basis of equality of all participants contributes to the development of the industry and innovation", - said the speaker. The new standards for expanded and extruded PPP come into effect this year, the material is divided into classes for all indicators, among which are mandatory and additional. In particular, the speaker stressed that the density index, which in Ukraine is accepted as a basis for classification, is "flawed", because strength indicators are much more important (especially since materials with lower density at higher strength are placed on the market). The same standardization in all countries will contribute to the expansion of the market and open competition. A. Necheporchuk commented that the Architectural and Construction Inspectorate is obliged to control the compliance with the regulations

How to insulate the building, the customer can determine by energy audit. Therefore the report on a theme "Energy audit for increasing of power efficiency of buildings and heat insulation", which was made by Andriy Tsybulko, the head of Association of energy auditors of Ukraine, has caused a lively discussion. The speaker stated: in our country neither the state, nor the population is interested in energy audit. Meanwhile its benefits for population are essential: the source of energy losses will be found, measures on providing of energy saving will be indicated and their cost and even their priority will be determined depending on availability of funds. Companies installing insulation systems, the involvement of energy audit will help to interest the customer, to prove the effectiveness and quality of work performed. For preparation of energy audit reports, the Association of Energy Auditors of Ukraine has placed an on-line calculator on its website. This tool aroused great interest in the audience. Of the shortcomings of the legislation, it was noted that there is no sectoral structure of energy audits. It should be construction, engineering, for industry, etc., because it requires appropriate qualifications of performers. There is no provision for licensing energy auditors, and the fact that every person who buys an infrared camera now declares himself an auditor is a blatant outrage. A.A.Necheporchuk, the expert in laws and norms, has assured those present, that certification of auditors will be introduced after acceptance of corresponding addition to the legislation.
