Attention! The cost of PSV-C is growing in Ukraine.

The high level of demand for the material, as well as the limited supply and the rising cost of raw materials among the key producers in Asia, allow the suppliers of PSV-C to the Ukrainian market to increase prices.

Traditionally, the peak consumption of expandable polystyrene in Ukraine comes in the third quarter. In October 2012 demand for the polymer was at a high level. The same situation will remain in November, according to the market participants.

Under conditions of limited supply, but at the same time high demand, the cost of, for example, Russian polystyrene will increase again. The current situation puts pressure on PSV-C supply in Ukraine as a whole, as it is not possible to compensate for the lack of raw materials by delivering PSV-C from Asia because of the long logistical leverage.

The current price for the Ukrainian market is in the range of 21,500-22,700 hryvnia / t including VAT, depending on the region and the terms of payment.

According to the trading companies, the cost of lots of Chinese material on the Ukrainian market will be at the level of 22,000 UAH / t.
At the same time, the import price of Asian polystyrene is also increasing. Last week the highest prices for PSV-C this year were recorded in China, namely USD 1,800-1,810 / t, FOB.

Such a high price level is explained by expensive styrene monomer, which reached the level of USD 1,625/t last week in Asia.

For Ukrainian consumers willing to contract a tonne of Chinese PSV-C at the end of September, the price was close to USD 1,910-1,930/t, which is an economically inefficient level.

Against the background of rising prices for competitors' products, Ukrainian PSV-C producer Concern Stirol (Horlivka) also intends to increase its price offer for the material.
