The NBU will meet the needs of the population in mortgages

The head of the National Bank said that the NBU in 2012 plans to meet the needs of the country in mortgage lending at the expense of affordable mortgages.

"Given what we did in 2011, I think that the changes will take place in the first quarter of 2012," said Sergei Arbuzov in an interview on Channel 5.

"It was state banks represented by Oshchadbank that proposed the option, we have seen it, we have carefully considered it, and we believe that in the first quarter we can already get the following conditions for mortgage lending: it is the term of the loan not less than 10 years, the interest rate should not be more than 14% in hryvnia," - he said.

"The annual demand for mortgage lending in Ukraine is about 10-30 billion hryvnias. I think that in 2012 we will be able to meet this demand," - said Arbuzov.
